about

Neptunes Afterhours Release notes

The title Neptunes afterhours Is what I fantasize, Deep, Soulful, Jazzy live Electronic music that is captured on tape, paying homage to the underground events that really formed electronic music outside of the music industry, while looking forward into what that future could be. In the dna of this project is experimentation and expression, fantasy and moodiness. Notes on volume 1 follows
The preparation of this live performance started in April right after a personal family loss. In the midst of this tragedy the relationship of jazz was really being discussed in my family quite often inspiring me to explore the added expression of improvisation in deep house music and each section became less a song but more a vibe aiding in your journey wherever that is.
Though the pieces are improvised and draws heavy influence from Deep/Detroit house/techno the sound remains unmistakably Chicago house. The tone is one of various shades of blue beat against what I imagine the journey to the electric afterlife feels like. Thank you for listening
